The Fine Details

Okay, so you know, we're doing an a trip around this big brown country of ours.

Starting on 6 September at the crack of dawn, we fly from Sydney to Hamilton Island for five days. I'm sure there are activities up there apart from diving, which we will get to sooner or later, but our main aim is to go scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. The 8 September is Helen's birthday!

On 11 September we leave Hamilton Island and fly to Perth. If only it was as simple as that. We go from Hamilton Island to Brisbane, wait, Brisbane to Melbourne, wait and then Melbourne to Perth, arriving at 12:55am.

That morning at 8am we board a smaller plane to fly to Learmonth, via Geraldton. We'll stay a week in Exmouth diving Ningaloo Reef, the Islands and the Navy Jetty Pier.

On 19 September we fly from Learmonth to Perth again and will then decide if we first go to Rottnest Island, Fremantle or Margaret River.

On 23 September we fly from Perth to Adelaide. The hard decision will then be Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale or Clare Valley vineyards!

On 27 September we fly from Adelaide to Hobart, with a stopover in Melbourne. We want to try and dive some of the kelp forests and see the seadragons down there. Daniel also wants to look up some relatives - his great great grandfather, Matthew Higgins is buried down there and a lot of the family were born in Hobart and New Norfolk.

And finally on 2 October we fly from Hobart back to Sydney.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We did want to travel overseas, but seeing what Australia has to offer will be dramatic! Especially the wineries and diving!
